6.7.7 Tips - June 2023

  1. Inserting Hatch Around Text: When using the tool to "insert a hatch in the selected boundary," if you also select text, the hatch will surround the text rather than covering it.

  2. Outlining Figures for Hatching: There's a tool to quickly outline a figure for hatching, ensuring that the hatch pattern doesn't appear within the figure. Add a boundary around the figure and select it when inserting the hatch.

  3. Using Color Setup Layer for Outlines: The outlined area uses the Color Setup layer embedded in the figure. Some figures, like water in a hot tub, might require exploding to use the exterior boundary for hatching.

  4. Exploding Figures for Multiple Areas: Exploding figures with interior color setup layers or multiple color setup boundaries allows you to color different areas, such as windows on a vehicle or coping of a pool.

  5. Color Ready Mode and Presentation: Switch to color-ready mode, save the drawing, update the presentation in color, and then apply color to specific areas, such as truck windows or the hot tub edge.

  6. Scrolling through Lists: When working with lists, you can quickly page up or down by clicking within the scroll bar.

  7. Turning on a Layer: Selecting a layer turns it on without changing the mode. For dimensions to be visible in color, they need to be exploded. Save the drawing and update the presentation to see the colored result.

  8. Adjusting Plant Names: When using plant images from the Online Plant Database, long names that are wider than the image can be adjusted. Hold Ctrl and click on the text, navigate to the Data tab, and add a new line break to split long names.

  9. Using Ctrl Key for Attributes: The Ctrl key can be used to access attributes for any text item. Two percent signs can be used to display the percent symbol.

  10. Wrap-Up and Thanks: The tips are concluded with the hope that viewers found something helpful and the gratitude for watching.
